Asheville Police are trying to find a Leicester man who they say attempted to strike an officer with his vehicle that led to a chase.
Craig Ross Griffin, 43, is charged with reckless driving to endanger, speeding, fleeing to elude arrest and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
An Asheville Police officer was enforcing the speed limit on Rumbough Place after neighbors in the area complained. A green 1998 Ford Contour approached the officer traveling the wrong way on a one-way street and nearly hit the officer.
Investigators say Griffin fled the scene, but other officers pursued him. the chase went through the neighborhood to Haywood Road and then to Patton Avenue. The pursuit continued to Interstate 240 before Griffin exited onto Fairview Road.
The chase ended on Oakley Dogwood Road, where police say Griffin drove behind a home and ran away on foot.
Officers arrested Nicole Leah Thompson-Dockery, 38, of Candler who was a passenger in the Contour. Thompson-Dockery was also wanted for parole and probation violations out of Mecklenburg County.
