COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Justice says it's moving part of its U.S. attorney operations from Washington to South Carolina.
Justice department officials said Monday they have agreed to a 20-year lease for a building that now houses the University of South Carolina's business school. The federal agency will use the building for staffers from the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys in Washington.
The move is expected to take around four years.
Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney Walt Wilkins is expected to announce Monday that his South Carolina headquarters is moving from downtown Columbia to a building on the University of South Carolina campus.
That puts prosecutors right next door to the National Advocacy Center.
