Kenneth Brent Evans, 45, of Jordan Road in Lyman died at 12:23am on July 18 in the intensive care unit of Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office anticipates getting final word Monday from the 7th Circuit Solicitor on whether any charges will be filed in the death according to SCSO Public Information Officer Tony Ivey.
A son shot hit his father during a confrontation at a home in Lyman according to Spartanburg County Sheriff's deputies. The victim is listed in critical condition at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Investigators will consult with the Seventh Circuit Solicitor's Office on Friday to determine if any charges will be filed.
Deputies were called to the home on Jordan Road about 10:30pm Thursday after Kenneth "Brent" Evans was wounded. The incident reports says Evans, 45, was under the influence of alcohol and threatened to take his own life with a gun.
His son Justin Evans, 20, was able to take the gun away from his father with the help of his mother. Kenneth Evans then went into his son's bedroom and returned with a knife.
Deputies say Kenneth Evans grabbed his wife and placed the knife at her neck. Justin Evans went to his bedroom to get a gun and returned to shoot his father once according to the incident report.
Kenneth Evans was transported by helicopter to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. His condition is not known at this time.
