Debit cards stolen while you work, wiping out bank accounts in one part of the Upstate.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says it has seen an increase in debit card theft in the Interstate 85, Pelham Road area, over the past few weeks.
Deputies say a recent case happened on July 17th, when a teacher's card was stolen from her purse during class hours inside Pelham Road Baptist Church. Minutes later, invsetigators say, the card was used to rack up hundreds of dollars in charges just down the street at a Super Bi-Lo store.
Detectives say the thives bought gift cards they will likely turn around and use or trade for stolen property or even drugs.
"These persons appear to be, what I would consider, professional thieves. They take great pains to not look into the camera, the female, has on a ball cap and sunglasses and will hold her hand up to her face when she comes into the view of the camera," Investigator Jeff Maxwell said.
Deputies are asking for your help identifying the suspects seen in these pictures.
Both the man and woman are described as being 30-40 years old.
Anyone having information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
