Southeastern Paper Group, based in Spartanburg, announced Wednesday that it has acquired certain assets of competitor Fulton Paper Company.
Fulton Paper is a distribution and supply chain solutions provider for the janitorial/sanitation, food service and industrial packaging markets. The company has locations in Atlanta, Albany, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla.
With the acquisition, Southeastern Paper said it will be positioned as the top distributor of disposables, packaging, janitorial/sanitation supplies and equipment in the southeastern United States.
“This is great news for us,” said Tammy Thompson, director of marketing for Southeastern Paper. “We basically bought out our only competitor. It puts us in a great position to succeed.”
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Thompson said Southeastern Paper plans to keep about 30 Fulton Paper employees, but a few positions will be eliminated.
Founded in 1969, Southeastern Paper at 50 Old Blackstock Road is owned and operated by the Miller family of Spartanburg.
The company is a supplier of non-foods disposable and janitorial maintenance supplies. It also services the hotel industry with paper products and amenities, the food service industry with cups, napkins and plates, as well as hospital care facilities with chemical and cleaning supplies.
