COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's top cop has testified during an inquiry into Gov. Mark Sanford's spending sparked by revelations of his affair with an Argentine woman while on a state-funded trip.
State Law Enforcement Division Chief Reggie Lloyd on Friday released a report on an inquiry he conducted earlier this month. Lloyd said he found Sanford committed no criminal or civil violations. He said his inquiry was very limited and said he'd pursue other issues if they come up later. Sen. David Thomas of Fountain Inn says he hopes his Senate Finance subcommittee will be able to wrap up work into Sanford's spending within two months. The other two members of the Republican's panel did not attend the hearing.
