A former Broome and Spartanburg Methodist College runner is fighting for his life in a Montana hospital.
Seth Buckley, the youth pastor with First Baptist of Spartanburg tells us Jeremy Vangsnes was airlifted to a hospital in Billings after being involved in a head-on collision Tuesday night.
He was visiting family after returning from a church mission trip. On Thursday night the Vangsnes family updated Jeremy's status. They said he does not have significant internal injuries, but he is only making reflex movements and has multiple fractures.
Vangsnes, a two-time all-state cross country runner and member of the 2005-2006 state championship track team at Broome, is 20 years old. "The endurance and passion he has, when he has his mind on something, he gives it all to get it done," Jeff Young, Vangsnes' brother-in-law, said.
Vangsnes was planning on running this fall at the University of Georgia.
His two brothers--also from the Upstate were involved in the crash, but are expected to be ok.
The family has set up a website for the brothers.
