A fire that tore through an Upstate apartment complex is out and under control.
Firefighters tell us, they believe the flames started at the Huntington Downs Apartments, after a lightning strike. This all unfolding around 4pm Monday at 1409 Roper Mountain Road in Greenville.
Mary Thomas with the American Red Cross says 16 apartments were burned, some destroyed by the fire. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Thomas says that this is the third apartment fire since July 1 and they have served 52 families who have been affected by fires since that same time frame. Thomas says the American Red Cross is stretched thin and needs help with financial contributions that could help families affected.
