Going to the grocery store and clipping coupons can be a tough task when you are on a budget.
Pamela Henderson says, "I see women in the stores all the time with the coupons in the big notebooks and they just go through the aisles and whatever item they are particularly looking at they may have the coupons for it." Now a new website claims to make it easy for you and as cheap as possible. It is called www.alice.com. The idea is to offer the lowest cost on groceries, so you save money, let you order from home so you aren't tempted at the store and they offer free shipping. Henderson says it sounds like a good idea. "You know if it saves money then I say do it." We compared some prices to see if you really save. On www.alice.com a 22 pack of Pampers cost $8.75 and at Target the same thing would run you $9.69. At Bi-Lo Pop Tarts are on special for $2.66 a box. At Alice.com you get them for $1.41. We checked into Cascade dishwashing liquid at Alice.com. It goes for $4.75 and at Wal-Mart that item will cost you $5.53. So how does Alice keep the prices so low? They let the manufacturers set the price for the products. In return they give the manufacturers spending data and they also give them free advertising space. For shoppers like Henderson, there are some things she just won't buy online, but others she is willing to take a chance on if it saves her money. She says, "I would probably say hair and make up some canned goods, box items stuff like that." Stuff that may cost you a dollar or more in the store. If you order from Alice.com, one catch is you have to order six items. The website will track what you buy and remind you when you may be getting low on stuff like toilet paper to make sure you always have some available. They have more than 6,000 products. If you are wondering about the name, according to their website it came from America's favorite housekeeper, Alice on the Brady Bunch.
