Timothy Allen Bolt pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of his wife.

Prosecutors say Bolt fired a single shot, killing his wife Charlie Ann Bolt, 41, in March of 2008. Prosecutors say Timothy Bolt was begging her not to leave him for another man and take his two daughters.

Prosecutors recommended a 20 year cap on the prison sentence for Timothy Bolt. The judge sentenced Bolt to 17 years in prison with credit for time served.

"I didn't intend for this to happen. I love my wife," said Timothy Bolt before the judge. Bolt also had 22 people, including his attorney, stand up in court and ask for mercy. They claimed Bolt was over medicated for depression and anxiety and this was completely out of character.

Charlie Ann Bolt's family was emotional after the sentence was delivered. They said they weren't happy with the outcome.

Charlie's family members said Timothy Bolt knew what he was doing.

The Bolts had two girls who are now nine and five years old.

The judge said it's a sad case because now the two girls, ages 9 and 5, are without a mom and a dad.
