Barry Cronic was arraigned on the charges Thursday morning and entered a plea of not guilty.
The judge released Cronic on a original personal recognizance bond.
Cronic says he is still employed at the plant. His attorney, Bart Daniel, would only say he is preparing for trial.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The manager of a South Carolina poultry plant where hundreds of suspected illegal immigrants were rounded up last year is expected in court on federal charges.
Barry Cronic and is set to be arraigned Thursday. Prosecutors say he knowingly hired illegal immigrants to work at the Columbia Farms processing plant in Greenville.
Personnel manager Elaine Crump has pleaded not guilty to lying on employment forms. And the company itself has been charged with knowing its managers were hiring and continuing to employ illegal
workers.
House of Raeford operates the plant. Prosecutors have said the North Carolina-based company is cooperating and has not been
charged.
More than 330 people were apprehended in the October raid. Prosecutors say most of them have been deported.
