A court hearing is scheduled Friday for the owner of a used car lot owner who is accused of ripping off customers. Thomas Lilly owned Cars of America in Henderson County, North Carolina. He signed a waiver in court to appoint his own attorney earlier in July. On Friday the court will decide if there is enough evidence to move the case forward in a probable cause hearing.
Investigators said he swindled customers out of more than $345,000 dollars by producing fake titles for their vehicles. Lilly faces 12 felony counts of obtaining property through false pretenses in Henderson and Iredell counties.
