The state Department of Transportation has started the bidding process for highway stimulus projects.
South Carolina received $463 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for highway projects.
Bids from contractors are being taken for new thermoplastic pavement markers to be used on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County. Similar projects are being done on portions of I-526 in Charleston County, I-95 in Darlington and Florence counties plus I-20 in Darlington and Lee counties.
SCDOT opened bids on May 26. Additional stimulus projects will be bid on by contractors in June, July and August.
