COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Most undergraduates at the University of South Carolina students will pay 3.6 percent more for tuition this fall - an increase of around $300 a year for the school's largest campus.
USC's board of trustees executive committee gave key approval Thursday to a spending plan that increases tuition and required fees for undergraduates on the Columbia, Beaufort and Upstate campuses by 3.6 percent. Tuition at USC's Aiken campus will go up 4.9 percent, while the school's regional campuses will see hikes of at least 5 percent.
President Harris Pastides says the tuition increase is the lowest in several years and comes at a time when state funding is steadily declining.
The full board of trustees will take a final vote on the proposed $1 billion budget later this month.
