Mission Hospitals in Asheville said its stolen ambulance was found at a mental health facility in Greer Monday afternoon.
Tom Cowan with Missions Hospital said between 2 am and 6:30 am Monday morning someone came through the back door of the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department in Hot Springs, NC and stole the ambulance. It's unknown whether the back door was locked, but Cowan says, the person who was inside opened the bay door, got in the ambulance, the key was in the ignition, and drove off.
Police say the ambulance was recovered at the Greer Mental Health facility in Greer after an anonymous caller saw the story on News Channel 7 and called the Greenville Sheriff's Office. The Greer Police Department say they are investigating the case and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating.
