Storm Team 7 expects more showers and thunderstorms in the Carolinas Wednesday. Some of those storms could be severe before wet weather is replaced by the hottest temperatures of the year.

Storm Team 7 Meteorologist Dan Bickford says the Upstate and western North Carolina remains in the same weather pattern. While showers could occur at anytime, the most numerous activity is again expected to be in the afternoon and early evening hours.

Bickford says some storms could contain strong winds and large hail.

The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings earlier Wednesday morning for southwestern Polk, south central Buncombe and Henderson counties.

NWS radar indicated a tornado near Avery Creek at 9:40am Wednesday which is about seven miles south of Asheville. Those warnings have expired.

Storm Team 7 says rain chances will be much lower on Thursday, but hot temperatures will arrive in the area.

The heat peaks on Friday, with upper 90s in the Upstate and some heat index values averaging near 105.
