Ware Shoals School District 51 cut eight positions, but was able to restore three jobs after receiving federal stimulus money.

Superintendent Fay Sprouse says the district cut six professional staff and two support staff positions. One of those support jobs was open at the time of the cut.

Sprouse says Ware Shoals School District 51 restored two professional staff and one support staff positions with stimulus funds. That leaves two people without a job next year. One of those workers was employed part-time and was a retiree.

Sprouse says the district is a new program with Title I stimulus funds and is looking for a Response to Intervention coordinator. District 51 has also applied for some of the competitive IDEA funds and may be adding some positions if the grants are funded.
