COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Military veterans will be able to get a
specialty license plate for passenger cars in August from South
Carolina's Department of Motor Vehicles.
South Carolina residents who served in the U.S. Armed Forces'
active or reserve components and were honorably discharged are
eligible.
The agency said Wednesday it has 400 prepaid applications for
the plate, which allows it to go into production.
The light blue plate with a five-point star is one of more than
100 specialty license plates that the state offers. About two dozen
have military themes but only represent groups such as disabled
veterans or the National Guard.
The agency says it has not yet gotten the 400 prepaid
applications it needs to produce a specialty veterans plate for
motorcycles.
