Robbery Spree Targets Classified Gun Sales in Greenville County

Deputies want you to know about a robbery spree targeting people selling guns in the classified ads.

It has happened twice in the last two days in Greenville County.

first in the valley Brooke Community off Augusta Road at Bee Tree Road.

Then Thursday in the Mark One Mobile Home Park off Murrell Road.

Deputies are working this case hard today hoping to catch these guys before they strike again, because both cases are similar picking their victims from the Iwanna.com website.

Wednesday and Thursday of this week both victims say they got calls from a very professional sounding person asking about a gun advertised in the classifieds.
Chad McSwain was advertising a 9 millimeter handgun.

He says he decided to meet the perspective buyer because everything seemed to be in order.
McSwain is a former law enforcement officer and says he did everything he could to make sure the situation was safe.

Pulling into the mark one community around 3:30 Thursday.
He says nothing seemed out of the ordinary until he showed the buyer the gun.

"I started hearing chambers being racked on guns. I could see he had ammo in his hands, putting in clips and I had one gun pointed right at me." McSwain said.

McSwain says the robbers made off with three guns including an SKS-47 assault rifle.

He says the same guy called him again last night trying to set up a meeting to buy another gun not knowing he was the one they robbed.

Deputies have all been briefed on this and they are out investigating.

They hope to stop any further events from happening and make an arrest.
