The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says tips from media coverage helped them identify a Chesnee man they say is a “serial shoplifter.“

Deputies are trying to find Howard Donald McKinney, Jr., 58, for shoplifting third degree and another offense.

McKinney is believed to be driving a silver 2005 Hyundai four-door with South Carolina license plate EQH-639.

He is wanted for several shoplifting offenses at numerous stores in recent weeks. McKinney has a criminal record dating back to 1976 - with many previous shoplifting arrests - according to Tony Ivey, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

Investigators had been searching for a blue Chevrolet Suburban from the recent incidents. Deputies found and impounded that vehicle.

If you have any information that can help find McKinney Jr., you’re asked to call CrimeStoppers at (864) 58-CRIME.
