Sheriff investigators are continuing their search for whoever may have killed a Cherokee County man Saturday. Coroner Dennis Fowler identified the victim as 63 year old Kline Wilson Cash of 2019 Battleground Road.
Fowler said Mr. Cash was found inside the family residence by his wife about 6:45 p.m. “Mrs. Cash told investigators there was a man at their residence talking to her husband about buying some hay when she left to go shopping around 3 p.m. When she returned to find her husband laying in the floor unresponsive, the man was gone,” Fowler said.
Fowler says Cash was shot and died from his injuries. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
Chief Deputy Joel Hill of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office says it appears that robbery is the likely motive in the murder of Kline Cash.
Cash is also the father of a Spartanburg County deputy, and Sheriff Chuck Wright was on scene Saturday evening. He told News Channel 7 that his office is helping Cherokee County investigators anyway they can, and the son of Kline Cash was home with family.
Investigators released a sketch of a person of interest on Sunday. He is described as a white male with salt and pepper hair.
A $2000 reward is being offered to any person providing information that leads to an arrest in the death of Kline Cash.
