Weaverville Plant Expanding; Will Add 32 Jobs

Baldor Electric Company will expand their plant in Weaverville. The plan will add 32 jobs at the facility. Baldor is consolidating its Sleevoil hydrodynamic bearing line in Indiana and moving those operations to North Carolina.

Baldor Electric Company announced Tuesday they will expand their plant in Weaverville, North Carolina. The plant will add 32 jobs at the facility.

Governor Beverly Perdue's office made the announcement about the company that is an international supplier of industrial electric motors, mechanical power transmission products plus drives and generators.

The jobs will be added over three years as part of a $4.8 million expansion.

Baldor Electric is consolidating its Sleevoil hydrodynamic bearing line in Indiana and moving those operations to its Weaverville plant, which currently employs 128 workers.

The new jobs will pay an average wage of $42,209, not including benefits, once they are added.

Three of Baldor Electric Company's plants are in North Carolina. The company has other plants in Kings Mountain and Marion which employ a total of nearly 700 people.
