32nd Annual Reedy River Run

»  Comments | Post a Comment

This Friday, March 6th, the Reedy River Run Packet Pick up will be in the ballroom at the Westin Poinsett Hotel, 120 South Main Street, downtown Greenville SC 29601. Phone: (864) 421-7000.

With 4,200+ of your closest friends joining us at Reedy the next morning (March 7th), your peace of mind is important to us. Please pick up your race packet this Friday, March 6th, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Westin Poinsett Hotel ballroom. It is "REEDY, REEDY important" that you or one of your Greenville friends, colleagues, or acquaintances pick up your race packet, your race number, your shirt, and your all-important shoelace chip BEFORE 9:00 pm on Friday.

BECAUSE......

If you haven't registered BEFORE Saturday morning, you will not have time to fight the traffic AND park AND stand in a last-minute line AND thread your chip securely into your shoelace AND check out the LittleJohn Portables AND stretch AND warm up AND get to the Starting Line on time.

We will start

................ the 10K at 9:00 am SHARP,

................ the 5K at 9:20 a.m.,

................ the Fun Run at 10:15 am,

................ the Youth Mile at 10:20 a.m. and

................ the Alum:Mile at 10:45 a.m.

SIX BIG IMPROVEMENTS THIS YEAR:

1) We’ve re-routed the last mile of the 10K from the long, steep McDaniel Avenue hill to the short, steep East Broad Street hill. Don’t worry, we’ve made up the distance differential in Cleveland Park. This year in the Park, you’ll stay on the paved path past the huge playground near the Zoo, and you’ll cross Richland Creek on the footbridge near the Park tennis courts.

2) We’ve backed up the 5K Starting Line and therefore the 10K/5K Finish Line so that you don’t have to sprint around a final sharp corner and so that we will all have more room for water between the Finish Line and the Liberty Bridge.

3) We’ve added the Great American Alumni Mile (a/k/a The Alum:Mile) for older teens and adults. It will start and finish near the intersection of South Main and West Camperdown.

4) Along those same mile lines, this year we’ve routed the two Mile Runs (the Youth Mile and the Alum:Mile) to accommodate spectators who would like to see their family members finish. The Mile Starts will be near WEST Camperdown & Boggs Street (near South Main & West Camperdown), and the Mile Finish Lines will be at the intersection of South Main and West Camperdown.

5) Your ChampionChip timing chips will be one-time-usage chips, which means you don’t have to stoop down after you finish your race and untie your shoelace while you’re in complete and total oxygen debt. Feel free to wait until you get home to take off your chip and dispose of it (or keep it as a souvenir). BUT PLEASE, if you enter future races here or in other towns, please do not assume that they are using disposable chips!!!

6) Post-race Party and Awards Ceremony have moved to South Main and the upper levels of Reedy Falls Park, on the west side of the Liberty Bridge. Food, drinks, music and three of our five events will also be on the Main Street side of the Liberty Bridge. Join us for a great time at this terrific new venue!

On behalf of The Greenville Track Club and all our incredible sponsors, we look forward to seeing you at Packet Pick Up this Friday and at The Reedy this Saturday!

Thanks for Runnin' The Reedy
