Police say a Gaffney man has been identified as the person who robbed a lady in an elevator in the parking deck at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Thursday night.

Spartanburg Public Safety Officers responded to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center around 7 pm Thursday night in reference to a Robbery call.
The woman told police she entered the parking deck around 6:45 pm and was approached by the suspect.
Police say the suspect approached the driver’s side window and began talking to the victim, trying to get her to open her door.
The suspect fled when another person appeared in the parking deck.
The victim parked her car and walked over to the elevators.
She saw the suspect again in the elevator area.
The victim phoned a relative and entered the elevator when it opened. Once inside, the suspect cornered the victim and demanded that she give him her checkbook and money.
The suspect told the victim, “We can do this the hard way or we can do this the easy way.”
The suspect took the victims car keys, wallet, cell phone and check book and fled toward the garage. The victim was approached by a concerned citizen who notified police.
Police say a Crimestoppers tip helped to identify the suspect.
Warrants are being signed at this time.
The victim’s vehicle has been recovered on Hwy 11 in Spartanburg County.
The suspect has not been captured.
