BMW Group announced a decrease in vehicle deliveries in February that was down by 24 percent from the previous year.
A total of 80,453 vehicle BMW, MINI und Rolls-Royce brand automobiles worldwide for the month. The company said the decline was expected because of the global economic and financial crisis.
The BMW brand sold 68,803 automobiles for the month, but the company claims BMW expanded its market share because it performed better than what was predicted.
"In just a few months the new BMW 7 Series has become the class leader in those markets in which it has been launched and the BMW X5 and X6 continue to dominate the global premium SAV/SUV segment," said Ian Robertson, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Sales and Marketing in a news release.
BMW Manufacturing in Greer produces the X5 Sports Activity Vehicle, the X6 Sports Activity Coupe and the X5 xDrive35d (Advanced Diesel Vehicle) according to the company website.
BMW produced 5,229 X5 units and 3,693 X6 Units in February.
