A Gaffney man is facing charges of possession of crack cocaine and Lortab within half a mile of a middle school.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office says they found Benjamin Scott McGinnis slumped over a car steering wheel in the courthouse parking lot.
McGinnis, 25, is charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine at a school. The incident report says McGinnis was arrested within half a mile of Gaffney Middle School on East Frederick Street.
McGinnis is also charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession of Lortabs after the arrest Friday afternoon at 1:45pm.
The incident report says officers were called to the courthouse parking lot because of a man who was found slumped over a car steering wheel in the parking lot. The deputy says he got McGinnis out of the vehicle and "could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the subject."
The officer says about half a dozen white pills were in plain sight in the ashtray. The deputy says he lifted an armrest and found a white bag with "several white rocks."
McGinnis admitted the crack cocaine and Lortabs belong to him according to the incident report.
He is not listed as being held Monday morning on the Cherokee County Detention Center website.
