FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Fayetteville police officers have ended a standoff with an armed Fort Bragg soldier who barricaded himself inside a friend's apartment.
Several media outlets reported the 24-year-old man shot at police at least twice and barricaded himself in the apartment early Tuesday. Authorities described him as a dental specialist who has been posted at Fort Bragg for two years, but has never deployed overseas.
Fayetteville police did not immediately return messages left by The Associated Press.
Residents of eight nearby apartments were forced to leave as police tried to deal with Johnson.
Police said they encountered a similar situation with the man last week, but Sgt. Tracey Bass-Caine said he wasn't armed that time so police didn't arrest him.
