If you're a gadget guru who loves to tinker with the latest technology, this story is for you.

You may be thinking, "What? Waste money on a gadget in this bad economy?" Even though you think you can't afford to buy gadgets right now, we're going to show you gadgets that can actually save you money.

Here are seven of the top gadgets that can save you some green, according to TheSimpleDollar.com.

7. A battery charger and rechargable batteries will cost you about $25. If your kids have battery powered toys, it could save you $30 to $100 dollars a year.

6. Electricity usage monitors range from $25 to $100. They show you which household appliances are draining your wallet and can cut your power bill $10 a month.

5. Compact flourescent lights, 2 bucks a bulb. Put them in all your lamps and your electric bill will shine $100 dollars less a year.

4. Take a $5 calculator with you to stores. You can calculate the true cost of groceries. Buying in bulk isn't always the cheapest.

3. A $40 programmable thermostat can save you $180 a year in energy by lowering your heating or cooling when you're not home.

2. The more hot water you use, the more you spend in energy to heat it. A $16 efficient shower head can wash $145 off your annual power bill.

1. A coffee machine, espresso or cappuccino maker, $200. If you buy coffee everyday, it will save you $1300 a year.

Two more ideas: You can drop gym membership fees by buying some exercise videos or games. Buy an inexpensive coin sorter to sort and roll your coins. You'll save the fee you pay a machine to sort coins for you and you can deposit the change into your savings account.

You'll find some more ideas at the SimpleDollar.com.
