Schneider Electric announced Thursday that two assembly areas will move out of Seneca by the end of 2010.
The moving of the motor control assembly areas will mean a loss of work for approximately 90 hourly and salaried positions at the company's Seneca facilities.
The facilities - currently housed at 1990 Sandifer Blvd and a leased facility at 2321 Blue Ridge Blvd - will have that work sent to factories in Monterrey, Mexico over the next 12 to 18 months.
Schneider Electric says they will provide all employees affected by this decision with full assistance during this transition period.
"This is never an easy decision, but it's the right one for our business," said Chris Curtis, CEO of Schneider Electric's North American Operating Division in a written release.
Schneider Electric employs approximately 615 people at the Seneca facilities and has been manufacturing in Seneca since 1986. The Seneca facilities manufacture low voltage motor control centers used in commercial and industrial construction.
