The biggest tobacco producing state in the U.S. could soon go smoke free in bars and restaurants.
A statewide smoking ban has been tentatively approved by the North Carolina State Senate which could pave the way for the proposed ban to become law.
While some establishments have already gone smoke free in the Upstate and Western North Carolina, this latest proposal is getting mixed reactions locally. Some smokers and non-smokers tell News Channel 7 they feel it’s the bar or restaurant’s choice whether to allow smoking and it’s your choice to go in or not.
A final senate vote could come next week. The house approved another version of the bill last month.
