The Greenville County Sheriff's Office has started a "death investigation" after the body of a woman was found Sunday afternoon.
The woman had received a suspected gun shot wound to the head according to Deputy Matthew Armstrong.
The remains were found at a home at 842 South Piedmont Highway around 1:30pm after deputies were called to the scene by a man. The woman was found on the living room floor of the residence.
We're told the victim was 48 years old. Her name has not been released by the Greenville County Coroner's Office. An autopsy is being conducted today according to Deputy Armstrong.
