The Pickens County School District has eliminated more than 100 jobs, but hopes to place many of those workers in new positions.
A total of 110 positions have been eliminated according to Julie Thompson, Director of Communication Services for the district.
Thompson says 70 employees have been issued contracts for new jobs as of May 15. Those positions were vacated as a result of retirements or individuals leaving the district.
The Pickens County School District budget for 2009-2010 will be down by about four million dollars because of budget cuts.
