Since when is it offensive to be patriotic. I served for 15 years in the defense of my country. The lady's son is serving in Afghanistan and she thought it would be a good gesture of support to display the Stars and Stripes.
My wife is from Thailand. I occasionally fly the Thai flag UNDER the S%S. I have served in countries around the world and never took offense at their flags.
In my opinion, if someone is offended by OUR flag they are in the wrong place.
