Several rounds of storms pounded areas across the Upstate of South Carolina and mountains of North Carolina Thursday night.
Almost 3,000 people were without power in Greenville County shortly before 10 pm Thursday, while trees and power lines were blown over. by 5:00 am Friday, the number of outages dropped to about 1,800 according to Duke Energy. A Greenville couple's home was heavily damaged on Howell Circle as a tree came through it during a round of storms. No injuries were reported.
Late Thursday night, emergency crews responded to multiple reports of damage caused by trees falling. One tree laid across South McDuffie St. near Reid Street as power lines were also strown across the road. The National Weather Service recoreded .64 inches of rain at GSP for Thursday.
The mountains of North Carolina, especially Henderson County, received plenty of rain. One apple grower in Henderson County said that they were concerned that the flooding in the area could cause damage to their crops.
