Local Homeless Shelter Expanding

»  Comments | Post a Comment

With an unemployment number that isn't getting any smaller, one area homeless shelter has found the need to expand.

Since they started keeping track in 2007 those at The Haven have had to turn away more than 250 families, a number they are trying to get smaller.

The Haven, which is a homeless family shelter, is moving down South Church Street in Spartanburg to their new location. The new Haven home will have 3 additional family rooms and 1 additional shared room for single women.

But with getting the new place, they are asking people for help in getting it ready in the next two weeks. They are looking for people to paint, move furniture, clean, and even monetary donations.

The Haven’s executive director says they are hoping to move into the building on November 12th and 13th.

If you would like to help them in their clean-up efforts by either man power or financially you can call them at 864-582-6737 or www.thehavenshelter.com
