The nation's largest home improvement stores are offering a special 10 percent discount to military personnel and retirees over the Veterans Day holiday.
North Carolina based Lowe's is offering the discount on in-store and special order purchases up to a maximum of $5,000. The offer began Sunday and runs through the end of the week. The company says only people from the active duty ranks, reservists, honorably discharged and retired military men and women with valid identification or proof of service are eligible.
The Home Depot is also offering a 10 percent discount to all active duty personnel, reservists, retired military, veterans and their families. The offer is valid on purchases of up to $2,000 for a maximum discount of $200 between now and November 11, 2009. The company says to qualify, individuals must present a valid military identification when checking out and discounts will be taken at the register.
