In Anderson Co. the high winds and soggy ground proved deadly after, according to troopers, a tree fell across Middleton Rd. and Terry Stancil, Jr. crashed into it just after midnight Wednesday morning.
Stancil's family gathered along the road just hours after hearing the news the crash killed him.
His cousin said it's a warning for everyone to be careful.
"Just be aware of the trees- they might be falling down, you know. It scares me driving too. Just everybody be aware," said Stancil.
Throughout the day the wind continued to whip and trees continued to fall in Anderson Co.
Emergency officials warn everyone to drive carefully.
