The boys were found safe and were reunited with their parents at the Anderson City Police Department. The boy's father JD Hansen told News Channel 7's Melissa Keeney, "My first thoughts were I'm glad they're ok. I wanted to tell them that I love them. At the same time, you want to be upset with them too." He says he had no doubt the two boys, who are both boy scouts, would take care of each other. "We said prayers during the day," he says. "We had a feeling they were ok." Now, he says he is not sure how to discipline the boys. "They saw the helicopters. They heard the dogs. And they were scared, as they should have been."
