CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson University spent the most on travel of any South Carolina agency in the past year.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reported Friday that data from the comptroller general's office shows Clemson spent nearly $10 million on travel in the fiscal year that ended June 30. The school had
spent $12 million the previous year.
School officials say Clemson has a presence in every county in the state and many of the trips were covered by athletic funds or grants.
The University of South Carolina was second for travel costs, spending nearly $9 million.
The Medical University of South Carolina was third at about $5 million. The Department of Health and Environmental Control spent about $4.5 million.
