A former Woodruff city clerk is out of jail on bond, after being charged with embezzlement. Officers took Beverly Mitchem Maddox into custody Thursday.
When News Channel 7 submitted a freedom of information request in September to find out why she was fired, the report revealed she helped herself to an extra $45,000 dollars to pay credit card bills and help her family.
At the time, Maddox did not want to comment to News Channel 7 on the allegations.
