The NTSB has released its preliminary report on the crash that shows just how desperate a pilot was to keep his plane flying before it went down in Buncobme County, North Carolina on November 3rd. According to the National Transportion Safety Board, the Mooney 20C lost power near the Asheville Airport. The plane was 8,000 feet up when the pilot turned on the electric fuel pump and switched tanks. The engine never regained power, so the pilot glided towards a corn field and clipped a tree 50 feet up before crashing to the ground.
