A father witnesses a 4-wheeler accident that leaves his son dead.

Paramedics were called to a home on Old Shoals Junction Road near Ware Shoals on Sunday.

Greenwood County Deputy Coroner Marcia Kelly says 5-year old Samuel Erik Quarles was trying to avoid a ditch when he fell off his 4-wheeler into that ditch.

Paramedics transported him to emergency room at Self Regional Healthcare where he died.

Coroner Marcia Kelley-Clark said Erick received trauma to his chest which eventually sent him into cardiac arrest.

Erik's mother Ashley Quarles says “He was just the sweetest little boy and if you ever met him, you’d remember him. He was a good ‘ole country boy. His dream was to be a bull rider.”

Visitation is Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at Parker White Funeral Home in Ware Shoals. The funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gallagher Church.

An account has been set up at First Citizens Bank in Ware Shoals in the name of Bradley S. Conklin in memory of Erik Quarles. Funds will be collected for burial expenses through Nov. 27.
