Update 11/18/09
The man accused of robbing and killing an Upstate pawn broker is now standing trial.
Easley Police say Roger Shephard killed 65-year-old John Bruin inside his Action Pawn Store on Main Street back in June of 2006.
Police chased Shepard all the way to Montreal, Canada where he was caught.
Tuesday in court an ATF agent testified 9 guns were stolen during the crime.
Surveillance video showed Shepherd inside the store before the murder.
Shepherd was arrested in Canada a few days later, but he was not transferred back to the United States for nearly two years. We now know authorities tracked him to Canada because he used a credit card to rent a hotel room.
The 13th circuit solicitor promised the Canadian government he would not seek the death penalty.
Judge Edward Welmaker is presiding in the case.
