Investigators Release Pictures of Spartanburg Bank Robbery Suspect

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Update 5:00 pm 10/18/09

Spartanburg Public Safety released surveillance photos of the bank robbery suspect.

Public safety says these pictures are from recent N.C. Bank Robberies. They are from Winston-Salem, High-Point and Greensboro.

They believe it is the same person that robbed the First Citizens in Spartanburg yesterday and left in a white van.

They think this is a different serial Bank Robber than the one that escapes in a white truck and uses the bag and note that has hit Spartanburg twice.

Update 5:00 pm 10/18/09

Public Safety Officers responded to a bank robbery today around 1:30 pm at the First Citizens Bank at 450 East Henry St.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers were advised that a white male in his thirties, walked up to the counter and told the teller he had a bomb.

He demanded the teller put all of her money on the counter. He retrieved the cash and fled the area on foot toward Pine St.

The suspect got into a white van and drove away north on Pine St. The suspect was further described as 5’6 to 5’7 tall, wearing a navy blue jacket with a hood.

The hood and sleeves on his jacket had some red on them. He had on blue jeans and white shoes. He was wearing a dark colored ball cap, sun glasses and had a full beard. No one was hurt during the robbery.

Public safety is searching the area with K-9 units.

The FBI has been brought in to investigate.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and the Spartanburg Public Safety Department encourages members of the community to get involved. Information can be given anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 58-CRIME or Text TIP649 with your tip to CRIMES (274637).
