Two Greenville County students are State champions in the NFL’s Punt, Pass and Kick Competition. Not only are they from the same school, they are from the same family. Isaac and Brittany Shipman have been playing football in their backyard as long as they can remember.
The brother and sister duo are fourth and fifth graders at Slater Marietta Elementary in Greenville County. Physical Education teacher Jody Childs told them about competition and the siblings won local and regional competitions. They are preparing for another competition in North Carolina next month which could take them to the national championships.
Coach Childs says, "Isaac's throwing is remarkable. It's really a very good throw...and I’d say Brittany's is too." Brittany credits her family for her success, "My brothers, they would go out in the yard and practice with me." Isaac beams when talking about her saying, “She has made it as far as I have. She has to be good."
The Shipmans compete for the team championship Sunday, December 6-th at 1:00 during the Carolina Panthers - Tampa Bay football game. If they score high enough, they move on to the national championships during the NFL playoffs.
