Anderson deputies have seized more than $105,000 dollars in counterfeit merchandise, after a raid of the county's Jockey Lot over the weekend. Deputies found thousands of bogus CD's and DVD's, and fake clothing and shoes, carrying names like Coach and Nike. Eight vendor booths were raided in the operation, according to Lt. Garland Major of the Sheriff's Office.
Lt. Major says none of the vendors have been arrested, but could face later charges of distributing counterfeit goods. The raid was a cooperative effort between Anderson deputies and the SC Secretary of State's office. The case started when a citizen complained to the Secretary of State, and officials began investigating.
Since 2008, the Secretary of State has seized more than $24 million worth of counterfeit merchandise, and arrested 300 people.
