We had an altercation between two McCants students on a bus this afternoon. The driver quickly pulled the bus over on Greenville Street (Highway 81) and broke up the fight. One of the two students was transported to the AnMed emergency room as a precaution. Our District Nurse is there with the student and reports that she is alert and appears to be okay. ------

Wednesday, 4:45 p.m.

Anderson authorities are responding to reports of a child being assaulted on a school bus. The bus is pulled over in a parking lot at 2007 East Greenville Street in Anderson.

Captain Daryl Loftis with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office says there was a fight between two 8th grade girls on the bus.

One of the girls was taken by ambulance to the hospital as a precaution because she got a knot on her head.

Witnesses say they were arguing and the girl with the knot said she had a knife in her book bag, then reached inside.

They say that’s when the other girl knocked her in the head.

The sheriff’s office has not confirmed whether there actually was a knife in the book bag.

They are still interviewing witnesses to see what started the argument in the first place.
