The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says its office manager was arrested and charged with embezzlement.

Thursday, the SC State Law Enforcement Division arrested 43-year-old Kathleen M. Taylor of 277 Mountain Road in Westminster, SC.

The Sheriff's Office says Taylor is charged with embezzlement of public funds.

The charge comes after money went missing from three separate drug fund accounts totalling $505,500.

Investigators say Taylor embezzled the money between January 1, 2007 and November 9, 2009.

Sheriff James Singleton asked SLED to investigate after an audit in October.

Taylor was arrested and booked at the Oconee County Detention Center Thursday morning.

She was released on $500,000 bond.

The Sheriff also terminated Taylor's employment following her arrest.
