Clemson voters will get the opportunity to decide who will replace former City Councilwoman Elouise James.
Our coverage partners at the Anderson Independent-Mail report that a special election has been set for February 9 to fill the seat previously held by James. James was suspended by Governor Mark Sanford on October 30 amid allegations of forgery and obstruction of justice. James had been a member of Clemson City Council since 1997 before she resigned on Monday.
Candidates are eligible to start filing for her seat at noon on December 4. The filing deadline is December 14 and candidates should file with the city clerk at Clemson City Hall.
