On Monday morning South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford is scheduled to make an economic development announcement in the Upstate. SPF North America says it will expand its operations in Greenwood County. The Greenwood Partnership Alliance sais the move would bring more jobs to Hodges and will allow the firm to consolidate some manufacturing, along with research and development.
The newest unemployment figures show just how badly the Upstate needs jobs. The jobless rate for Greenwood County topped 14 percent for the month of October, according to the Employment Security Commission. South Carolina's statewide unemployment average is 12.1%.
